WASHINGTON: At least six people including a Federal Judge John Roll were killed, while United States Democratic member of Congress Gabrielle Gifford received severe injuries in a firing incident on Saturday.
The incident took place outside a grocery store in Tuscon city where Gifford was delivering a speech in a public meeting. During the speech an armed assailant opened indiscriminate firing on the spot. As a result, Federal Judge of Arizona District, John Roll along with six other people were killed. Twelve other people were also injured in the incident.
It is pertinent to mention here that Roll faced death threats in 2009 after presiding a civil-rights lawsuit.
However, Democratic member of the congress from Arizona State received severe injuries in the incident. During the last three terms she has been continuously selected member congress.
police have arrested the assassin and initiated further probe into the incident.
