Islamabad: Former Attorney General and senior leader of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Sardar Latif Khosa has been appointed as Governor Punjab.
Sources in PPP while talking to The News Tribe claimed that the decision to appoint Khosa as Governor of Punjab was taken by President Asif Ali Zardari after thorough consultations with party leadership and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani.
Though the sources claimed that the decision has been taken to appoint Khosa as Governor, however, notification to this effect has yet not been issued. On the other hand, Latif Khosa expressed his ignorance about the development, saying that he have no knowledge whether he was appointed as Governor Punjab or not.
The office of Punjab Governor was fallen vacant after the assassination of the Salman Taseer.
Khosa is a close confidant of Presdeitnt Asif Ali Zardari and had served as Attorney General for Pakistan and Advisor to Prime Minister on Information Technology. Currently, he is representing the federation of Pakistan in the its review petition against the Suprme Court’s judgment on National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO).
