Karachi: An Afghan peace delegation headed by former Prime Minister Prof Burhanuddin Rabbani called on Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday.
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Interior Minister Rehman Malik were also present on the occasion.
Pakistan welcomed Afghanistan’s peace efforts to bring stability in the region, President Zardari said and pledged his support to the plan.
He told the delegation that Pakistan has adopted the 3-D policy, wherein development and dialogue were the first priority followed by deterrence.
He said that cordial relations between the two countries would bring peace and stability in the region.
Prof Rabbani thanked the Pakistan government for its role in supporting efforts for reconstruction in Afghanistan.
On the occasion, he expressed condolence with the president over the assassination of Punjab Governor Salman Taseer.
