ISLAMABAD: At one side, where the Government of Pakistan has declared the killing of Punjab’s Governor Salman Taseer “martyrdom” and announced to observe a 3-day mourn, in the meantime prominent religious scholars of the country declared Taseer “Jahanumi” and warned people to not offer the funeral prayer of Taseer. They said the murder of Taseer is a big example for those who want to change blasphemy laws.
More than 500 prominent clerics and religious scholars including Professor Syed Mazhar, Saeed Shah Kazmi, Alama Syed Riaz Hussain Shah, Allama Syed Shah Turabul Haq Qadri, Haji Mohammad Hanif Tayyab and Allama Zameer Sajid directed Muslims that those who will observe mourning over the death of governor Punjab to be included in the list of blasphemy persons.
Religious scholars paid a rich tribute to the assassin, Malik Mumtaz Qadri, of Taseer and said he have recalled 1400 history of Muslims. They warned ministers, politicians, lawyers and anchor persons who fever blasphemy law, to get lesson from this incident.
Meanwhile, the largest political, Islamic vision, party of Pakistan Jamaat-e-Islami in a statement said the incident has relaxed the followers of Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him). They said if the government had removed Taseer from governorship then no one killed him today.
Provincial leader of JI, Asadullah Bhutto said that when no one can bear his own insult so how is it possible that any Mslim can bear the insult of his beloved PBUH. He said Taseer was patronizing the blasphemous elements.
He said the incident shows that when government not fulfills the demands of the people. He said government represents the majority of the people and when rulers not fail to fulfill the demands of people then this kind of incident have seen.
