ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) will resume hearing of suo moto action regarding Hajj scandal on Thursday.
A seven member special bench of SC headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and comprising judges will hear the suo moto notice taken on letter of Saudi Prince Bandar Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud.
Attorney General of Pakistan Justice (retd) Maulvi Anwar-ul-Haq, Secretary Ministry of Interior Qamar-uz-Zaman Chaudhry, Secretary, Establishment Division, Director General, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Islamabad, Member of Standing Committee of National Assembly on Religious Affairs, All proprietors of tour operators, Chairman National Accountability Bureau, justice (retd) Seyd Deedar Hussain Shah, Secretary Ministry of Religious Affairs, former Minister for Religious Affairs Hamid Saeed Kazmi, ex-Minister of Science & Technology Azan Khan Sawati and Sardar Muhammad Latif Khan Khosa will appear before the court.
FIA officials will represent the investigation report before the apex court. Earlier on last hearing of 13 December 2010, Sawati submitted a written statement in the Supreme Court in reference to the Hajj corruption.
Sawati in his statement claimed that Minister for Religious Affairs was involved in the corruption, whereas Kazmi’s counsel Latif Khosa said that being cabinet minister Swati would be a party to the alleged corruption. Therefore, he should resign before accusing Kazmi.
It is worth mentioning here that Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani sacked Kazmi who was under scrutiny over mismanagement in the Hajj corruption case and Sawati, who submitted a statement in the SC alleging Kazmi of corruption.
