Islamabad: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Tuesday ordered to arrest Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf.
A three members bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry resumed the hearing of rental power case.
During the hearing, the bench ordered the chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to arrest 16 accused including the prime minister within 24-hour and submit the challan by tomorrow.
The supreme court has also issued a contempt of court notice to the NAB chairman for using the apex court’s name illegally.
The court further said that the NAB chairman would be responsible if the PM fled the country.
The accused include Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, former finance minister Shaukat Tareen, Liaquat Ali Jatoi, Tariq Hameed, Shahid Rafih, Mohammad Ismail Qureshi, Ishfaq Mehmood, Salman Siddiq, Khalid Saeed, Lt General (r) Saeed ul Zafar and others.
Meanwhile, Karachi Stock Exchange has crashed badly after losing over 550 points just minutes after this news.
