Islamabad: Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Monday strongly condemned an attack on senior journalist Hamid Mir and said that investigations are being carried out into the incident.
While talking to reporters after meeting with Mir, the interior minister demanded the people to help him if they had any information regarding the incident. He also offered Rs50 million reward for a person who would provide any information related to the attack on Mir.
Malik said that the Frontier Constabulary’s (FC) and the police’s security was being provided to Mir. He asked Mir to choose any inspector of police for the security.
Talking about deteriorating law and order situation and killing of journalists in Balochistan, the minister said that he had strong proofs that some external forces were involved in crimes and terrorism in the province. He added that Pakistani agency had not killed any person in the province.
Hamid Mir appreciated the quick response of the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) and said that he had confidence in the capital police.
The journalist said that he had been offered by the government for security but he refused, adding that two security guards were appointed at his residence and office.
