Ipoh: Pakistan on Thursday defeated Argentina by 4-2 in opener of Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2012.
Pakistan took lead in 33rd minute through Muhammad Irfan who scored the goal after a pass from Rashid Mehmood. Skipper Sohail Abbas scored second goal for the country in opening of second half.
Argentina reduced deficit via Gonzalo Pelltat penalty corner in the 53rd minute and equalised the score with Mathia Parades help who hit the ball in the net after a pass from Mathias Villa.
Pakistan Haseem Khan came into the action and deflected the shot from Irfan to give Pakistan a 3-2 lead in the 65th minute. Pakistan Muhammad Waqas scored fourth goal for Pakistan in the 69th minute.
