Washington: Commander of American Central Command, Gen. James Mattis called on Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States Sherry Rehman to discuss matters of mutual interest to both countries.The Pakistani diplomat stressed the need for both countries to work together to build a relationship that is equitable, transparent and predictable.According to the Pakistani embassy, Ambassador Rehman said that Pakistan had contributed the most towards successes in the war against terror while enduring more sacrifices than any other country.
Gen. Mattis acknowledged Pakistan’s contribution, especially the close cooperation of Pakistani military with NATO/ISAF forces in Afghanistan. The CENTCOM commander underscored the need for continued collaboration and cooperation between both countries at all levels to take the relationship forward in a mutually beneficial manner.
