Islamabad: Supreme Court Bar elections in Pakistan will be held on Saturday. Rasheed A Rizwi, a prominent member of lawyers movement, and Yasin Azad, backed by the federal government, will be contesting.
About 49 candidates including president, vice president and secretary are will contest the polls.
More than 2,200 lawyers throughout the country would use their right of vote in the elections of the Supreme Court Bar in Islamabad.
Nine polling stations have been established in Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Hyderabad, Quetta, Peshawar, Abbottabad, Bahawalpur and Multan.
According to Returning Officer Raja Afrasyab, the SC’s lawyers who are posted on governorship, ministry or other government seats, would not be entitled to cast their votes.
The tenure of current present Aasma Jahangir and others is going to be ended on October 31 to be replaced by new ones from 1st November.
