Islamabad: Pakistan Minister for Religious Affairs Syed Khurshid Shah has said wearing Abaya has been made compulsory for female pilgrims during performance of Hajj.
He told this during the meeting of standing committee on religious affairs here Thursday. He went on to say performing Hajj rites is not name of picnic but it is very hard job. Hajj is not flying carpet that whosoever wills should go to Hajj and whosoever does not will should not go, he held.
He told as many as 22 billion rupees had been received from Hajjajs during 10 days and 71000 passports had also been received.
One doctor and two paramedical staff have been appointed in very building for pilgrims this year, he pointed out. Services of 5 lady doctors had also been hired to provide treatment facilities. 54000 buildings had been hired within the radius of 2000 meters, he told.
Giving briefing the committee, former secretary for religious affairs Agha Sarwar Qazlbash said costly residences had been hired for Hajjajs this year as compared to last year. Rs 80 million had been saved while hiring the buildings for pilgrims, he said.
Secretary religious affairs Shaukat Hayat Durrani said mutual agreements had been signed with Saudi Arabia in connection with Hajj arrangements.
