ISLAMABAD: The Accountability Court of Islamabad charge-sheeted 11 accused including former chairman of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority, Tauqeer Sadiq, in OGRA corruption case.
The Accountability Court judge Muhammad Bashir has summoned six other accused, former prime ministers Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and Raja Pervez Ashraf among them, on June 4 for a formal indictment. The two former PMs have been included in the case over ‘illegal’ appointment of the OGRA chief.
The court indicted 11 accused including Tauqeer Sadiq, Sikandar Hayat Mekan, Mansoor Muzafar, Zaheer Sadiq, Aqeel Karim Dhedy and Mir Kamal Fareed Bijarani while the twelfth accused in the case, Mirza Mehmood Advocate, has been released due to lack of evidences.
The charge-sheet comprised many charges including misuse of power and illegal issuance of licenses to CNG stations.
The accused pleaded not guilty. At which the court, summoned six accused on June 4for charge-sheeting. The court has also summoned prosecution witnesses on June 6.
During the course of hearing Nab prosecutor requested the court to indict the accused of case, stating that prosecution has completed all legal requirements including evidences and witnesses.
The court provided the copies of references to the accused present in the court and accused signed on the charge sheet.
Ex Chairman Ogra Tauqeer Sadiq rejecting the allegations said that they would face the charges and prove those as bogus.
