PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court on Wednesday has imposed ban on open trading of acids in Peshawar, the provincial capital of the Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province, local media reported.
PHC’s Justice Dost Muhammad has pronounced the imposition of ban over open trading of acids which is now largely being used against women during the hearing of acids’ selling case today.
Justice Dost Muhammad said, “Acids turned into weapons for married and unmarried women.”
The PHC judge expressed his outrage over governmental authorities by saying that Pakistani government instantly takes action for lawmaking if the issue is concerned to them.
There are countless victims on the record who have lost their lives, faces and eyes in acid attacks. A majority of these cases are happened due to family feuds in Pakistan.
In year 2012 alone, around 150 acid attack cases were registered in Pakistan, among these events 30 were reported only in Mardan district of KPK, The Frontier Post reported.
However, there is significant need of expansion in the imposition of law for toxics trading across Pakistan in order to get rid of these kind of attack.
