New Delhi: Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said that if he could normalize the strained ties between the two arch rival neighbours, Pakistan and India, then his job would be well done.
Singh, who was returning to India after his five-day visit of Kazakhstan, was asked by accompanying journalists what would be the five things he would like to achieve with India-Pakistan relations.
“I think, five is too much, if I can succeed in normalising the relations between India and Pakistan as they should prevail between two normal states, I would consider my job well done,” Singh said.
Last month, Manmohan Singh had invited Prime Minster Yousaf Raza Gillani to watch the India-Pakistan cricket World Cup semi-final at Mohali, giving a diplomatic boost to normalising the ties between the two countries.
India had suspended composite dialogue with Pakistan after the 26/11 Mumbai attack, accusing that militants from Pakistan orchestrated the massacre in Mumbai.
