ISLAMABAD: The election commission of Pakistan has expressed grave concerns over the assaults and persistent threats to election candidates.The ECP was pointing towards the incidents of bomb blasts near the polling offices of MQM and ANP in Karachi, resulting in many deaths of injuries to several other people.
Yesterday, a bomb planted on a motorcycle near the office of ANP went off, killing 11 people and injuring 20 others. Bashir Jan of the political party was the apparent target of the assault.
Following the incident, ANP had announced to observe mourning in the province and appealed general public to recite holy versus to calm the souls of those departed in the incident.
Rallies and processions of various candidates in Punjab and elsewhere have been targeted with hand grenades by unknown people to disrupt the process of polling.
