Islamabad: Pakistan’s Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) will organise world’s biggest convocation in May 2013. Video conferencing technology will be used in the upcoming event through which the regional convocation functions of 14 largest cities of Pakistan will be connected.
Around 17,000 students will participate in the convocation and will be awarded by by degrees, gold and silver medals and honorary degrees.
Vice Chancellor AIOU Prof. Dr Nazir Ahmad Sangi has revealed the plan of upcoming event while heading the committee meeting formed for the convocation.
He said AIOU main campus situated in Islamabad will be the centre of the event.
The chief guest would be President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari. Special guests of regional convocation events in 14 different cities will be senior provincial personalities.
Initially, the cities selected for convocation include Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, Faisalabad, Hyderabad Abbottabad, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur and Sukkur.
