Lahore: The PML-N has decided to play final round against the PPP-led government and would go to an extreme point as demand of fresh elections might come from its part, party’s spokesman Siddique-al-Farooq told The News Tribe here on Saturday.
In an exclusive interview with the UK-based bilingual news website, Farooq described the PML-N’s agenda as ‘demands of masses’, saying the country’s worsening situation could not be changed without fulfillment of the agenda, Nawaz Sharif announced on January 4 at a press conference.
According to him, the demand of cut in the prices of daily use items and government expenditure, and recovery of money from the Swiss accounts would provide great relief to the people besides strengthening economy.
Farooq said; “PML-N has asked the government to meet its demands or else it would go to masses. There is no other way.”
Referring to the PML-N’s relations with the PPP, he said that the gulf between the two parties had widened after the latter broke promises regarding reinstatement of the sacked Supreme Court judges and presidential elections.
Farooq noted that his party continued its reconciliation policy in the larger national interest, maintaining good relations among the federating units. He said that the party has provided many opportunities to the government, despite the PPP’s pathetic behavior.
“We had convinced the government on various matters of national importance by putting pressure as we know they do not come on right track without force” Farooq added.
In reply to a question about the MQM’s rejoicing the ruling coalition, the PML-N spokesman alleged that the agenda of Muttahida Qaumi Movement is to stay in power through blackmailing, adding it has rejoined the government against raised stipend.
