Karachi: The issuance of new decreased fare lists has no effect on commuters of Karachi on Monday as they are charged according to old rates, while Sindh Transport Ministry said it has not enough force to implement the new fares.
Sindh Transport Minister Akhtar Jadoon said it has directed DIG Traffic and Commissioner Karachi to crack down against the transporters who are charging passengers according to previous rates. But if ground reality is the only yardstick, the directions seem to be still on paper yet.
Jadoon said it was easier to issue orders but to implement them is quite difficult.
On the other hand, President Karachi Transport Ittehad Irshad Bukhari said the association has not even received new lists for minibuses. But the ministry said it was the other way round and they have issued the lists.
