As many as 17 people have been affected after chemical reportedly leaked leak into the pool at the Garfield Park Aquatic Center on the Indianapolis Southside.
Derrick Seyles of the Indianapolis Fire Department said a chemical known as “magic acid”, used to purify water, inadvertently spilled into the pool just before 2 pm, Indystar.com reported.
Their symptoms of the victims, also children among them, including coughing and vomiting, Seyles said.
Nine patients were taken to Riley Hospital for Children and five to Wishard Memorial Hospital. Parents were told to gather in a parking lot north of the pool, and the park had been evacuated.
