Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Sunday has announced to file a petition in the Supreme Court of Pakistan against National Assembly Speaker Dr. Fehmida Mirza’s ruling on Prime Minister Gilani’s conviction by the apex court.
On May 24 Dr Fehmida Mirza refused to send reference against Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani to Election Commission of Pakistan for his disqualification.
A five-page decision issued by the Speaker office stated that question of Prime Minister’s disqualification did not arise under Article-63(G).
In statement issued by PML-N Spokesman Senator Mushahiddullah Khan said that the petition would be filed by the party leader Khawaja Asif.
“The petition would plead the apex court to suspend the ruling of NA Speaker,” he said adding that it would also appeal Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to declare the Prime Minister as disqualified from his seat of the National Assembly.
It is to be mentioned here that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan also said on Sunday that his party was going to file a petition tomorrow in the Supreme Court against National Assembly Speaker Dr. Fehmida Mirza’s ruling on Prime Minister Gilani’s conviction by the apex court.
