In the Kathua district of occupied Kashmir, an attack by unknown assailants resulted in the deaths of at least four Indian soldiers and injuries to six others.
According to a report by Kashmir Media Service, unknown armed individuals attacked an Indian army vehicle with gunfire and grenades from a hill in the Billawar area of the district.
The attack left four Indian soldiers dead and six wounded, with two of the injured in critical condition. Following the attack, Indian soldiers cordoned off the area and launched a large-scale search operation, calling for additional reinforcements.
The report stated that this incident is the latest in a series of violent clashes that began on Sunday when police reported that two Indian soldiers and six suspected militants were killed in two separate gunfights in the Kulgam district.
Previously, freedom fighters had fired at a military camp in the Rajouri district, injuring one soldier.
It is notable that the Himalayan region of Kashmir has been divided between Pakistan and India since 1947, and the two nuclear-armed neighbors have fought three wars over Kashmir.
