Govt. Reverses Decision to Increase Electricity Price for Consumers Using 200 Units

Islamabad: The government has reversed its decision to increase electricity prices for protected and non-protected domestic consumers using 200 units per month.
The federal cabinet approved the reversal of the price increase for protected and non-protected consumers using 200 units per month. Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif urgently obtained approval from the federal cabinet through a circulation summary. The federal government will provide approximately 50 billion rupees in subsidies to offer relief on tariffs.

According to the government’s decision, relief will be provided to consumers using 200 units per month from July to September 2024, benefiting approximately 26 million electricity consumers.

Previously, the federal cabinet had approved an increase of up to 7.12 rupees for protected and non-protected consumers using 200 units per month.
