Karachi: The incidents of dog bites are rapidly increasing in Karachi, leaving citizens distressed due to the lack of vaccines.
According to media reports, there has been a significant rise in dog bite cases at government hospitals in Karachi, with Civil Hospital receiving nearly 60 new cases daily.
Citizens have expressed their frustration, stating that despite reporting the issue of the increasing number of stray dogs to the local union council, the response has been inadequate. The union council claimed they had eliminated several dogs, but new ones keep appearing.
The lack of support from the Mayor of Karachi Murtaza Wahab has hindered a sustained dog-culling campaign. Citizens urge the Mayor to take consistent and effective measures regarding the dog culling campaign.
It is noteworthy that in May, Civil Hospital reported 1,594 cases of dog bites.
