Poland: Despite the loss against France in the last group match, Pakistan has reached the semi-final of the FIH Nations Hockey Cup, where it will face New Zealand.
According to details, in the last group match of the Nations Hockey Cup, Pakistan faced a 6-5 defeat against France. However, the national team advanced to the semi-final due to the goal margin.
The match began with France taking the lead in the 7th minute through Victor Charlet’s penalty corner goal. Rogeau Blaise extended the lead with a field goal in the 14th minute, ending the first quarter at 2-0. France continued their dominance with Gaspard Baumgarten scoring in the 23rd minute, followed by another goal from Charlet in the 25th minute.
Pakistan’s Rana Waheed Ashraf, Muhammad Abubakar, Murtaza Yaqoob, Abu Mahmood, Abdul Rehman, and Hannan Shahid each scored a goal, while France’s Charlotte Victor scored three goals from penalty corners.
Despite the loss, the national team managed to secure second place on the points table, with France finishing first. The Pakistan hockey team will face New Zealand in the semi-final of the Nations Cup.
Earlier in the tournament, Pakistan recorded a win against Canada and a draw against Malaysia. Their performance secured a spot in the semi-finals where they will face New Zealand on June 8. The final is scheduled for June 9, with the winning team earning qualification for the Pro League.
