Bus Accident Claims 28 Lives in Balochistan’s Washuk District

Quetta: In a devastating incident early Wednesday morning, a passenger bus traveling from Turbat to Quetta met with a tragic accident in Balochistan’s Washuk district, resulting in the loss of 28 lives and 22 wounded, including women and children.

Reports from rescue and Levies officials indicate that the bus carrying around 50 passengers overturned and plunged into a ditch after one of its tires burst, leading to the driver losing control of the vehicle.

In the incident, 28 individuals lost their lives, and 22 sustained injuries and were swiftly transported to Basima Civil Hospital for medical treatment. According to Dawn the Basima Assistant Commissioner (AC) Ismail Mengal revealed that three women and three children are also among the dead.

According to reports, at least 9 injured individuals are in critical condition and have been transferred to the Combined Military Hospital in Khuzdar, raising fears of an increase in the death toll.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his heartfelt condolences for the victims and their families, offering prayers for the departed souls. He has instructed the relevant authorities to extend all necessary assistance to those injured in the accident. Similarly, Balochistan’s Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti also conveyed his sympathies for the tragic loss of lives and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.

In another distressing incident on Friday in Gilgit Baltistan, 20 lives were lost and 21 individuals were injured when a passenger bus veered off a narrow mountain road and fell into a ravine in the remote area of Diamer district.
