NEPRA Indicates Further Increase in Electricity Prices

Islamabad: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has indicated a further increase in electricity prices.

According to sources, NEPRA stated that due to a continuous decrease in electricity demand, there could be an additional increase in the three-month adjustment. Overall, there has been a 12% decrease in electricity demand by February. The current three-month adjustment is Rs. 2.75 per unit.

It was further stated by NEPRA that the Ministry of Energy and CPPA-G should gather proposals to end load shedding on commercial grounds. There are 60% capacity payments in electricity rates, which are much higher than international standards.
