Islamabad: Former Pakistani fast bowler Azhar Mahmood has been nominated as the head coach of the Pakistan men’s cricket team for the upcoming five-match T20 series against New Zealand and the 17-member squad for the series has also been announced.
Azhar, having represented Pakistan in 164 international matches, took 162 wickets and scored 2,421 runs. His previous assignment with the Pakistan men’s cricket team was from 2016 to 2019 when he served as the bowling coach.
Wahab Riaz will be the senior team manager, while Mohammad Yousuf will be the batting coach. Saeed Ajmal, who served as the bowling coach during Australia and New Zealand’s previous tours, will continue as the spin bowling coach.
The matches will be played from April 18 to 27 in Rawalpindi and Lahore.
