Sindh: 8 Children Die from Food Shortages, Diseases, and Contaminated Water

Karachi: In Sindh, 8 children have died due to incidents of food shortages, various diseases, and drinking contaminated water.

According to a private TV channel’s report, three more children, affected by various diseases and food shortages in the Tharparkar area, have also died. The Health Department has confirmed that the deaths of children have occurred at the Civil Hospital Mithi due to food shortages and diseases.

The provincial Health Department states that the ages of the 3 children who died within 24 hours due to food shortages and various illnesses range from newborn to one year old, and all three belong to rural areas of Tharparkar.

It should be noted that the number of children dying annually has reached 122.

On the other hand, in Sanghar, 5 children died after drinking contaminated water from a hand pump. The deaths of 5 children occurred in the village of Niaz Bhatti in Sanghar over a period of 3 days.

The district administration has confirmed that children aged 4 to 8 years with complaints of vomiting, fever, and diarrhea were brought to the hospital. The deaths of children occurred from drinking water from a hand pump installed on agricultural land. Laboratory tests have confirmed that the water from the hand pump is contaminated, and it has been sealed by the authorities.
