Islamabad: The National Assembly’s process of appointing the Leader of the Opposition reached its conclusion as the NA secretariat issued a notification confirming Omar Ayub’s appointment to the crucial role in the Lower House of the Parliament.
The appointment of Omar Ayub as the Leader of the Opposition comes after a period of deliberation and disagreements within the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) over the selection of candidates for key parliamentary positions. Sources revealed that while Omar Ayub was nominated by the founder of PTI, former speaker Asad Qaiser emerged as another contender for the position.
The development followed Omar Ayub’s meeting with National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, where he was informed about the impending issuance of the notification.
