England’s Jos Buttler ‘Officially’ Changes Name to Josh in Hilarious Video

London: In a light-hearted twist that left cricket fans amused, England’s white-ball captain Jos Buttler, renowned for his explosive batting and leadership prowess, starred in a comical video released by the England Cricket Board (ECB) on Monday. Titled ‘Official Statement,’ the video showcased Buttler purportedly announcing a significant change – his first name, from Jos to Josh.

The 33-year-old cricketing stalwart humorously recounted years of enduring mispronunciations and misspellings of his name, culminating in an amusing revelation of his decision to rectify the issue once and for all.

“Hi there. I’m England white ball captain Jos Buttler. But for my entire life, I’ve been called the wrong name,” Buttler jestingly lamented, recounting instances where even his own mother addressed him as ‘Josh’ in birthday cards.

The video took a hilarious turn as Buttler revealed the ultimate catalyst for his decision – the misspelling of his name on his MBE medal. “Even my MBE was wrong. So after 13 years representing my country and two World Cup wins, it’s time to finally fix the problem. To solve the problem once and for all, I am officially Josh Buttler,” he declared with mock solemnity.

However, the light-hearted moment took an unexpected twist as the producer, inadvertently referring to Buttler as ‘Jos’ instead of ‘Josh,’ prompted a mock display of exasperation from the England captain, culminating in a playful throw of his pen.

The video, although potentially resembling an April Fool’s prank, offered a moment of levity amid Buttler’s intense cricketing commitments. Currently playing in the Indian Premier League, Buttler remains a pivotal figure in England’s cricketing landscape.

With an illustrious career spanning 57 Tests, 181 ODIs, and 114 T20Is, Buttler’s leadership and batting prowess have been instrumental in England’s successes, notably their T20 World Cup triumph in Australia in late 2022.
