Islamabad: The federal government on Sunday implemented a significant increase of 9 rupees and 66 paisas per liter in the price of petrol, further deepening concerns among an already inflation-burdened public.
According to media reports, the Ministry of Finance, on the recommendation of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), has increased the price of petrol by 9 rupees and 66 paisas per liter, citing corresponding rises in global petrol rates and a decline in HSD prices. After this increase, the new price of petrol is Rs. 289.41 per liter.
After the adjustment, the price of High-Speed Diesel (HSD) has been reduced by Rs. 3.32, bringing down the price of HSD to Rs. 282.24 per liter, according to a notification issued by the finance ministry.
Moreover, the prices of kerosene oil and light-diesel oil have been reduced by Rs2.27 and Rs0.38 per liter, respectively, setting them at Rs186.39 and Rs167.80 per liter.
It is worth noting that the new prices of petroleum products will be applicable from April 1st to April 15th.
