Karachi: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) witnessed another historic moment on Thursday as the KSE-100 index surged past the 67,000-point mark, marking a new all-time high in trading activity.
Continuing the bullish trend for the fourth consecutive day, the PSX displayed remarkable resilience, with the KSE-100 index reaching an unprecedented level of 67,142 at 2:47 pm. This surge reflects the confidence of investors and the robust performance of the Pakistani stock market.
The index recorded a substantial increase of 594.3 points, building on the momentum from the previous day’s record-breaking close at 66,547 points, where it registered a notable gain of 641 points.
The last time the PSX crossed the 67,000-point threshold was on December 13 of the previous year, underscoring the sustained growth trajectory of the stock exchange.
In a significant development, the London Stock Exchange reaffirmed the status of the Pakistani Stock Exchange as an emerging market. The announcement from the FTSE confirmed that PSX would retain its emerging market classification for the next six months.
On the other hand, today, at the beginning of trading in the interbank market, the U.S. dollar has further decreased by 14 paisas on the interbank market, reaching Rs. 277.90. Yesterday, at the close of trading, the dollar was closed at Rs. 278.04 in the interbank market.
