Chakwal: Najaf Hameed, the elder brother of former Director General of Inter-Services Intelligence (DG ISI) Lt (retd) Gen. Faiz Hameed, has been apprehended in connection with a corruption case on Monday. The arrest was carried out by anti-graft authorities in Rawalpindi.
Najaf Hameed was detained by anti-graft officials at the Rawalpindi court premises, where he was wanted in connection with ongoing financial fraud cases. Despite being on bail, Hameed was taken into custody as the legal proceedings against him unfolded.
The arrest followed a local court’s dismissal of Najaf Hameed’s interim bail application, prompting the authorities to execute the arrest warrant issued against him. Following his apprehension, Hameed was escorted by anti-graft officials to Chakwal, where the case against him had been registered.
The accused is slated to appear before the court on Tuesday for further legal proceedings, including the consideration of physical remand. Najaf Hameed, who had been dismissed from his position as Tehsildar last year, faces allegations related to fraud and forgery, as per the charges filed by the anti-corruption department in Chakwal.
