Texas: Outside the Federal Medical Center Carswell Jail in Houston, Texas, where the nation’s daughter Dr.Aafia Siddiqui is imprisoned and subjected to violence and abuse, the Dr. Aafia Foundation America organized a peaceful protest.
The protest was attended by the director of the Dr. Aafia Foundation America, El-Hajj Mauri Saalakhan, athlete Nadrat Siddique, Farheen Sadiqi, Saleema Gul, and others. While addressing the occasion, human rights activist Mauri Saalakhan expressed serious concerns over reports of sexual and physical violence against Dr. Aafia in the FMC Carswell Jail.
He said that the Pakistani education expert woman has been unjustly imprisoned for 20 years. During this time, she has been subjected to multiple instances of abuse and violence. He stated that there is a complete violation of BOP laws in Dr. Aafia’s case, and her family is being prevented from contacting her.
He mentioned that after a long period of 20 years, in 2023, the meeting held between Dr. Aafia and her sister Dr. Fowzia Siddiqui also proved distressing for both sisters. Participants of the protest also chanted slogans outside the FMC Carswell Jail demanding the release of Dr. Aafia and all political prisoners.
