Karachi: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidate Murad Ali Shah has been elected as the Chief Minister of Sindh consecutively for the third time.
A session of the Sindh Assembly was held under the presidency of Speaker Owas Qadir Shah. PPP member Nadir Magsi took the oath of office in the assembly. Independent members of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protested in the assembly.
Meanwhile, Syed Murad Ali Shah has been elected as the Chief Minister of Sindh for the third time, achieving a two-thirds majority for the first time.
Independent members of the PTI protested in front of the Speaker, chanting slogans against the rigged election. PTI-backed independent members did not participate in the voting.
PPP candidate Syed Murad Ali Shah secured 112 votes, while his opponent from the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Ali Khurshidi, received 36 votes. According to Speaker of the Sindh Assembly, Owas Qadir Shah, 148 assembly members participated in the election.
