Lahore: Deputy chief of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Liaqat Baloch has stated that the national elections are marred by rigging, controversy, and a stain on the democratic parliamentary system. Jamaat-e-Islami will issue a white paper on election rigging, reject the results, and organize protests across the country on Friday (Today).
Liaqat Baloch mentioned that the Chief Election Commissioner has proven to be a sandcastle in the face of pressure. He should resign immediately. He demanded that the caretaker Prime Minister refer the matter of election rigging to the Supreme Court for the formation of a judicial commission.
He said that there is an increase in division and political instability in the country. To end polarization, Jamaat-e-Islami will initiate step-by-step dialogue with the national leadership and the political parties need to move towards partnership for stability.
Liaqat Baloch stated that Jamaat-e-Islami received over 2.5 million votes overall, which were reduced in Form 47 to nearly 1.4 million in national assembly constituencies and less than 1.7 million in provincial constituencies.
He said Jamaat-e-Islami participated in elections without forming an alliance with any party based on its manifesto and electoral symbol. Despite our candidates being defeated through rigging in Karachi and KP, we believe that the nation by putting their trust in Jamaat-e-Islami has strengthened the tradition of Jamaat-e-Islami’s national services.
