Accra: A Ghanaian woman and media personality, Afua Asantewaa Owusu Aduonum, attempted to set a Guinness World Record by singing continuously for 126 hours and 52 minutes.
According to Guinness World Records, the woman’s name is Afua Asantewaa, and she hails from Ghana. Afua Asantewaa picked a list of 125 songs on December 24, which she continued to sing for five days.
Following the guidelines of Guinness World Records, Afua Asantewaa was allowed a break every hour for 5 minutes or 20 minutes for every four hours. Moreover, during or between two songs, she could only pause for 30 seconds.
Ifra Asentiwa made a successful attempt to break the record of continuous singing set by Indian musician Sunil Waghmare, which lasted for 105 hours from March 3 to March 7, 2012.
Asantewaa performed for 126 hours and 52 minutes breaking and setting a new World Record. Afua Asantewaa stated that it was just a dream that came true over five days, and expressed hope that her attempt would inspire women to step out of their comfort zones and explore new opportunities.
