Karachi: Jamia Al Uloom Al Islamia Banuri Town has issued a religious verdict (fatwa) declaring the use of TikTok as forbidden (haram).
According to media reports, the issued fatwa by Jamia Al Uloom Al Islamia Banuri Town states that TikTok is prohibited due to its users, including men, women, youth, and elderly individuals, creating and uploading inappropriate videos to earn money, which is deemed religiously impermissible.
The fatwa raises the question of whether using and watching TikTok is permissible, to which it responds that the growing trend of TikTok is the biggest contemporary temptation. TikTok is declared forbidden based on the following grounds: it involves the video creation and imaging of living beings, women engage in immodest actions synchronized with music, and men and women upload videos consisting of Haram content like dancing to obscene songs, which is religiously impermissible.
