Karachi: Under the auspices of the Pakistan Publishers and Booksellers Association, the 18th Karachi International Book Fair 2023 will commence at the Karachi Expo Center on Thursday, December 14, lasting until Monday, December 18.
Nearly 40 institutions from approximately 17 countries, including Pakistan, Turkey, Singapore, China, Malaysia, Britain, and the United Arab Emirates, are participating in the international book fair.
The exhibition will feature more than 330 stalls, with renowned publishers from across Pakistan setting up their stalls. Books will be available at extremely discounted prices during the exhibition. It is expected that over 400,000 individuals will attend the book fair this year.
KIBF Convener Waqar Mateen said that the Karachi International Book Fair, which has been held continuously since 2005, also has the honor of being the largest trade fair in Pakistan.
The inaugural ceremony of the exhibition will have the Caretaker Chief Minister of Sindh Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqir, and President of Arts Council, Muhammad Ahmed Shah, as the distinguished guest of honor.
The opening ceremony of this international book fair will take place on Thursday, December 14, 2023.
During a press conference held at a local hotel on Monday, the details of the international fair were shared with journalists by Aziz Khalid, Chairman of the Pakistan Publishers and Booksellers Association.
Chairman Aziz Khalid further stated that events like these book fairs not only serve as a platform for million-dollar deals but also contribute positively to various aspects of Pakistani society. In the present era, events like the IBF contribute to highlighting the positive aspects of Pakistan to the world.
