Washington: The United Nations has stated that 61 trucks loaded with medical supplies, food, and water are reaching Northern Gaza, as the pause in fighting due to the 4-day truce allows aid to enter the besieged coastal area.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) mentioned in a statement that more than 200 additional trucks have been dispatched from Israel’s city of Netanya, of which 187 have crossed the border into Gaza.
The statement highlighted that eleven ambulances, three coaches, and a flatbed were delivered to Al Shifa Hospital, which has been repeatedly attacked by the Israeli forces, “to assist with evacuations.”
Expressing gratitude to Palestinian and Egyptian Red Crescent groups, it further stated, “The longer the pause lasts, the more aid humanitarian agencies will be able to send in and across Gaza,”
A day earlier, when the temporary ceasefire for the exchange of prisoners and hostages began between Israel and Hamas, according to the United Nations, a total of 137 trucks had delivered aid to Gaza.
