Lahore: Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami, Sirajul Haq, held a meeting with Australian High Commissioner Neil Hawkins in Mansoora, where discussions took place on Pakistan-Australia relations, the Palestine and Kashmir issue, and mutual interests. Director of Foreign Affairs of Jamaat-e-Islami, Asif Luqman Qazi, was also present on the occasion.
Sirajul Haq handed a letter to Neil Hawkins addressed to Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, appealing to use diplomatic influence to immediately broker a ceasefire in Gaza and bring an end to Israeli hostilities in Gaza, ending the indiscriminate killing of Palestinians by Israel.
The Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami highlighted that more than 13,000 innocent people, including a significant number of children and women, have lost their lives in the Israeli forces’ bombardment in Gaza. The Palestinian struggle for their freedom is in accordance with international laws, and Palestinians have the right to resist against illegal occupation.
The Australian High Commissioner acknowledged the efforts of Jamaat-e-Islami for peace and stated that they view Jamaat-e-Islami’s endeavors for the establishment of peace with appreciation.
