Lahore: The Punjab Environment Protection Department is actively working to combat environmental pollution and smog on the orders of the Chief Minister of Punjab.
Under the supervision of the Minister of Environment, Bilal Afzal, a substantial operation was initiated against smoke-emitting factories last night. A team comprising the Director-General, Additional Director-General, Directors, and Deputy Directors of the Environment Protection Department took action against factories emitting smoke. During this operation, several factories on Karol Ghati Road, Mehmood Booti, and Beeni Road were heavily fined and many were sealed.
According to the department’s spokesperson, further actions of this nature will continue. He also mentioned that due to the rainfall yesterday and these operations, Lahore’s Air Quality Index (AQI) has improved to a level of 40, indicating healthier air quality.
