New Dehli: Attacks against Christians in India are on the rise, along with Muslims and Dalits.
According to international media reports, a Delhi-based civil society organization, the United Christian Forum (UCF), has issued a report stating that in the first 8 months of the current year 2023, there have been 525 attacks against Christians in India.
If this trend continues, it will be the most challenging and violent year for the Christian community in India to date, surpassing the records of 2021 and 2022. Given the prevailing violence in Manipur, there is a particularly high likelihood of an increase in incidents this year, where hundreds of churches were destroyed in the past four months alone.
According to a petition filed in the Supreme Court, 642 destroyed places of worship were reported. In June, the Archbishop of Imphal stated that 249 churches were destroyed in just 36 hours.
