India: Teacher Assaults Dalit Student for Drinking Water from His Cooler

New Delhi: In India, a Hindu extremist teacher subjected a student from a lower caste to violence for drinking water from his water cooler.

According to Indian media, this incident occurred in a government school in the city of Bharatpur in the state of Rajasthan, where a thirsty student was subjected to violence by a teacher.

According to the police, it was reported by the student that due to the school running out of drinking water, he and his friends filled their bottles from the teacher’s water cooler when they felt thirsty. This led to the teacher becoming enraged and subjected the student to violence.

Following the incident, the aggrieved student’s parents and members of the Dalit community stormed the school, protesting against the teacher, Ganga Ram Gurjar, who was accused of perpetrating the violence.

The police reported that a complaint against the teacher had also been filed at the local police station by the student’s brother. The seventh-grade student has undergone a medical examination, and the teacher has been taken into custody for further investigation.
