Karachi: Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has said that the biggest issue in Karachi is the water supply system. We want solutions, not conflict.
Speaking to the media at the MD Water Board office, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman said that work on K-IV had started 18-20 years ago during Naimatullah Khan’s tenure. The biggest issue is the water supply system. We want to work on it expeditiously.
He said that we have elected representatives in 9 towns. Article 140-A talks about the transfer of powers. We have professional people, their services need to be utilized. Water theft by industries will have to be stopped. We are fully prepared to cooperate.
Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman said that sewerage is also a major problem. Sewerage lines need to be connected to the drains on an emergency basis. The previous era should end now. Hydrants should be closed down. Hydrants should only operate on an emergency basis. We have come with a positive mindset. Water Board should now take practical steps.
