Karachi: In a joint operation with law enforcement agencies, police in Karachi have apprehended an Indian spy named Akhil Dev and his Pakistani accomplice, Zahoor Ahmed.
The arrest took place in the Old City Area, according to SSP Arif Aziz who confirmed that Dev is an Indian intelligence operative. He was found carrying two Indian passports, a pistol, and Rs 500,000 in foreign currency.
SSP Aziz revealed that Dev was arrested near Clifton Police Station boundaries. Fake jewelry boxes, six mobile phones, a tablet, and various documents were also recovered from him.
Authorities believe Dev was involved in espionage activities targeting sensitive locations across Pakistan. Raids are underway to nab his local associates.
Officials expect major revelations from the detained spy and his accomplice during questioning. The role of Indian agencies in terrorism in Pakistan is likely to come under scrutiny after this high-profile arrest.
