Islamabad: Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam has climbed to the third position in the Test rankings. According to the latest rankings issued by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Thursday, Babar Azam has moved up from sixth to third place in the Test batters’ rankings.
Australia’s Steve Smith has risen to the second position in the batters’ rankings after a two-step promotion, while New Zealand’s Kane Williamson remains at the top of the list.
As per ICC, there have been changes in the batting rankings following Smith’s rise, with Pakistan’s captain Babar Azam making a leap to the third position. Meanwhile, Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, and Joe Root have moved to the fourth, fifth, and sixth positions respectively.
Babar Azam is currently the only player who is present in the top three rankings in all three formats of international cricket. He holds the third position in Test rankings, the first position in ODI rankings, and the third position in T20 rankings.
