ISLAMABAD: The counsel of Opposition Leader in the National Assembly and President Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Shehbaz Sharif had to rush to a nearby hospital from the Supreme Court after he collapsed and fainted while advancing arguments during the hearing of NAB’s appeal for Shehbaz’s bail cancellation.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had moved to the Supreme Court against the Lahore High Court decision to grant bail to Shehbaz Sharif in a graft case.
During the hearing of the case by a bench headed by Justice Azmat Saeed Sheikh, Ashtar Ausaf fell ill and fainted.
A doctor of Supreme Court examined Ausaf at the courtroom No 2. An ambulance was called in and Ausaf was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Justice Azmat Saeed who was hearing the case inquired about Ausaf’s health and later adjourned all cases being heard in Court No 2. The contempt of court case against Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid was also adjourned.
Ashtar Ausaf had severed as the Attorney General of Pakistan in the PML-N government and had been removed from the post last year.
