Morning Show: Rating High but Standard Low

Almost every morning having my cup of tea in front of TV, switching channels randomly, not attracted towards any channel as there was no such program which could capture viewers attention.

Since it was morning time therefore so called “Morning show” was aired on almost every entertainment & news channel. It seems a race is begun between the hosts & the race is for rating and every morning show wants this rating trophy by hook or by crook.

Almost all (except very few) of them has no content to show, few highly rated topics & situations are there which they must have to fit in the show. These highly rated topics & situations are Shadi arrangement, preparation ” gana bjana” ,dresses discussion blah blah, live exorcism by so called “Amil” while the other highly rated topics are beauty cares and for that, numerous experts on every channel telling in live show how to make face creams & scrubs etc even telling the name of chemicals as ingredients of the cream.

How irresponsible attitude it is, our media is not even concerned of the seriousness that could result in, let’s suppose, for instance if a young girl puts higher ratio of prescribed chemical which results in damage of her skin or any other loss; who will be responsible for this? Who will take responsibly of any loss? The most irresponsible attitude I witnessed in a morning show was a doctor prescribing medicines that one could have as per need.

These low standard program unconsciously took me back to the glorious & classical era of Pakistan television (PTV). I must say, I and all my fellow generation are the lucky one that we grown up in the era where we went school after watching Chachu (Mustansir Hussain Tarar)& Phopo’s (Sofia Shahid) classical morning transmission.

Those transmissions were informative, full of positive content, entertainment within our ethical & moral values. It was a complete family content, which can easily motivate all to boost up towards their work positively. I would be gratified if I can say some words for the Legendary chachu (Mustansir Hussain Trar) a city of knowledge, I still remember how decently he hosted the show.

How polite was his way of talking, how much informative he was throughout the show. He was not at all glamorized neither his outfit was. But left an ever lasting impact on his entire viewer even after the decades we couldn’t forget. I wish he once again boost our day by saying “ Subha bakhair Pakistan”.

I only could hope that we again could have similar kind of ethical content based morning show not the rating based.
