Yasir Shah likely to miss New Zealand tour

ISLAMABAD: Minimum punishment for using prohibited substance is three months and Maximum ban is four years and Yasir Shah will miss the new Zealand tour either International Cricket Council (ICC) impose minimum ban on Pakistani leg spinner. 

Yasir Shah has been charged with an anti-doping rule violation under the ICC Anti-Doping Code.

The sample Yasir provided in an in-competition test, which was conducted on 13 November 2015, was found to contain the presence of chlortalidone, a Prohibited Substance which appears in Section 5 of the WADA Prohibited List (in the category of Specified Substances).

In accordance with the ICC Anti-Doping Code, pending the outcome of the disciplinary process, Yasir has been provisionally suspended.

Earlier, Sri Lanka’s wicketkeeper-batsman Kusal Perera faces a four-year ban after his ‘B’ sample also tested positive for a prohibited substance.

ICC provisionally suspended the 25-year-old after he failed an out-of-competition anti-doping test in October.

Sri Lanka Cricket sent back Perera from their tour of New Zealand earlier this month while also promising to provide support for the dashing left-handed batsman to get back on the field as soon as possible.
